A murder accused has been killed in a reported gunfight with DB police in Chowrasta area of Nandail upazila in Mymensingh on early Saturday.

The deceased Emon, son of Nurul Islam and a resident of Kolapara village of the upazila, was accused in several murder cases.

Ashikur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Detective Branch of Police of the district, said police arrested Emon in connection with killing of auto-rickshaw driver Rana after snatching his vehicle on May 17.

A DB team raided the area around 2:30am on Saturday along with Emon for arresting other criminals, said the OC.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Emon’s associates opened fire on them, prompting them to retaliate that triggered the gunfight, reports UNB.

Emon sustained bullet on his chest during the gunfight.

Later, he was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
