A man has been arrested in possession of 135 gold bars at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram.

The suspect came to Bangladesh from Oman's Muscat aboard a US-Bangla Airlines fight and was carrying the gold in a bag, according to the customs officials.

The detainee has been identified as Mohammad Jahed, 40. The authority is questioning him about the possibility of more smuggled gold, said Mahbubur Rahman, assistant commissioner of customs at the Chattogram airport, reports bdnews24.

“A total of 135 gold bars were recovered after searching his bag. The gold bars, weighing around 15kg, are worth Tk 60 million,” he said.
