HC orders reinvestigation into Shammi murder

The High Court on Wednesday ordered reinvestigation into the murder of Shamima Laila Arjumanna Khan Shammi by Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim passed the order due to the alleged negligence of police in the investigation of the case.

The court also asked Dhaka Medical College and Hospital Principal to form a three-member board with specialist doctors to examine the autopsy report of the victim.

Shammi was allegedly tortured to death by her husband Md Alamgir Hossain Titu, a high official of a buying house, at his rented residence in capital's Kalyanpur area on June 7 this year.

According to UNB, the order came following a report published in Bangla daily Jugantor on November 5.

Supreme Court lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan placed the news report before the HC bench for necessary order.
