Five policemen withdrawn in Chattogram  

Five policemen, including two sub-inspectors of Sitakundu highway police, were closed to Chattogram police lines for releasing a drug trader after embezzling Yaba seized from his possession.

They are two sub-inspectors Mohiuddin and Adam Ali and three constables Mamun, Imam Hossain and Mostafa of Baro Aulia thana of highway police.

Earlier on May 7, a five-member team of the Baro Aulia Highway Police, led by SI Mohiuddin, in a drive detained a young man Md Mostakim, 36, son of Taslim Uddin Khandaker of Baranda village in Gazipur district, along with 21,800 pieces of Yaba tablets worth around Tk 6.6 million (Tk 66 lakh) from a bus on Dhaka-Chattogram highway.

However, the team released Mostakim taking the Yaba from his possession.

On information, a team of detective branch of police arrested Mostakim when the bus reached Dhaka.

Later, SI Mohiuddin was closed to Cumilla Highway Police on May 7 immediately after the incident came into light.

The withdrawal decision was taken on Friday night as a probe committee found the policemen guilty, reports UNB.
