Five get life term in Netrakona double murder case

A Netrokona court on Thursday sentenced five people to life term imprisonment in a case over killing a man and his son over a land dispute at Rupchandrapur village in Atpara upazila in 2011.

The lifers are Rukan Uddin alias Afeus Miah,45, JashimUddin, 50, Sabas Khan, 52, Sulto Khan, 55, Hares Miah, 35, of Rupchandrapur village, reports UNB.

Judge KM Raseduzzaman Raja of District and Sessions Judges Court handed down the verdict and fined them each Tk 50,000 each ,in default, to suffer three months more rigorous imprisonment.

The court also acquitted seven other accused as their guilt was not proved.

According to the case statement, on March 27, 2013, the convicts attacked Tajul Islam and his son Suman Miah while they were returning home after fishing.

They beat them up and hacked the duo, leaving them severely injured.

Later, the duo succumbed to their injuries.

Victim's son Suhag Miah filed a case with Atpara police station on January 16, 2013.
