Detectives detain 'JMB man' with gunpowder in C'nawabganj

The Detective Branch (DB) of police detained an alleged member of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) along with 500g of gunpowder in Chapainawabganj on Saturday.

Sub-inspector (SI) of the district's DB police Sabur Khan said a team of detectives conducted a drive during a 'secret meeting' at Barghoria Sluicegate area of the district around 4.30am.

The law enforcers detained Mostafa Kamal, son of Yasin Ali; resident of Charmohanpur area of the municipality, from the meeting.

According to UNB, other attendees of the meeting fled the scene sensing the presence of the cops, the police official said.

Mostafa is accused in two cases for having involvement with the banned outfit and was freed from jail on bail recently, the SI added.
