Detectives arrest four with fake notes worth Tk 9.0m

A team of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested four people along with fake notes worth about Tk 9.0 million from city’s Motijheel area on Wednesday.

The arrested were identified as M Lal Miah, M Shahidul Islam, Abida Sultana and Al Amin, according to a DMP press release on Thursday.

In said on July 31 at 22.35pm, a DB team (east division) of DMP conducted a raid in Fakirapul area under Motijheli police station and seized fake note of Taka 50 lakh and arrested M Lal Miah and M Shahidul Islam in this connection.

In another operation by a plain clothe police team of (west division) of DMP recovered counterfeit currency of Taka 40.20 lakh from Sabujbagh area of the capital city and arrested Abida Sultana and Al Amin.

Three cases were filed with different police stations against them.

In the preliminary interrogation, the arrestees gave confessional statements and said that the gang will use the fake notes to cheat cattle traders and buyers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, Additional Commissioner of DMP Abdul Baten said this during a press briefing at DMP Media Centre, reports BSS.
