BGB seizes smuggled goods in Lalmonirhat

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized huge cache of smuggled goods from the borders under Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion till Sunday morning.

“The patrolling BGB members of Gorak Mandal, Bagbhandar, Moghalhat, Durgapur, Gangarhat and Kashipur border outposts seized the smuggled goods from different bordering areas from November 5 to 18,” according to a press release.

The seized goods included 430 bottles of smuggled Indian phensidyl syrup, 107 bottles of foreign wine, 23 kilogram of cannabis, 179 bottles of Escaf syrup, 26 cows, four bicycles, 443 kilogram salt and imitational ornaments worth Tk 1.57 million, BSS reported.

“The seized smuggled goods were deposited with the customs authorities, police stations and Department of Narcotics Control for taking further legal steps,” the release added.

Commanding Officer of Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion Lt Colonel Anwarul Alam said to conduct more anti-smuggling and anti-drug drives in the region.
