Covid infection rises by 115pc last week: DGHS

Covid-19 infection saw a sharp rise in the country over the past week with a 115 per cent as compared to the previous week, according to the DGHS on Sunday.

“Some 6,300 new Covid patients were detected in the country in the last one week till Saturday while the number was 3,336 before the last week. And, the infection witnessed a rise by 115 per cent in the last week,” said spokesperson of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nazmul Islam.

Meanwhile, the Covid related death has also seen rising.  23 people had died in Corona last week which is 15 per cent more than the previous week, he added at an online media briefing.

Both Covid infection and positivity rate have seen raising in the past week, he continued.

The positivity rate was less than 2.0 per cent which has now reached to 6.0 per cent at the end of December, Prof Nazmul Islam said, adding that the Covid situation in the last 30 days in the country showed an upward trend.
