Covid claims 180 doctors lives, infect over 9,300 health staffers in Bangladesh

Coronavirus has so far claimed the lives of at least 180 doctors in Bangladesh while the total numbers of infections among the health workers have exceeded 9345, according to the apex body of doctors on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, more three dental surgeons died in the Covid-19 infection out of the total death count, said the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA).

The body of the physicians expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families, saying the contribution of the physicians in such a situation should not be forgotten.

As many as 3,091 doctors, 2,251 nurses and 4,003 other health workers got infected since the first virus case was reported in the country in March last year, the statement of BMA added.

The BMA said physicians and other health staffers have been dedicatedly carrying out their duties to address the pandemic situation, and at least 180 doctors have died in the pandemic while many more have been infected and facing burnout due to carrying out their duties in the pandemic relentlessly.
