The Dhaka division alone has recorded more than half of the total fatalities in novel coronavirus, said official data.
Of the total fatalities in Covid-19, the Dhaka division reported 52.13 per cent, according to DGHS.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh on Tuesday registered 17 coronavirus deaths, taking the total number of fatalities to 5,983, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Besides, some 1,659 fresh infections were recorded in the last 24 hours, pushing the total case count to 412,647.
As many as 1,886 patients recovered from the Covid-19 during the 24-hour period, the release added, saying that the recovery rate rose to 79.92 per cent while the death rate remained at 1.45 per cent.
Among the deceased, 16 were men and one was woman.
The country tested a total of 14,061 samples in its 113 authorised labs during the period under review, bringing the total number of samples tested to over 2.3 million, according to the DGHS release.
