Covid-19: Bangladesh records 31 deaths, 1,472 infections in 24 hours

Covid-19 claims 31 more lives, infects 1,472

Bangladesh has registered 31 more deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours until 8 am taking the tally to 5,555 since the first case of the coronavirus disease was reported on March 08 this year.

A total of 1,472 fresh infections were also recorded during the past 24 hours taking the count to 379,738, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a press release on Monday.

A total of 1,531 coronavirus patients made recovery during the same period, the DGHS said, adding that with this the total number of recoveries now stands at 294,391.

The recovery rate rose to 77.52 per cent while the death rate remained at 1.46 per cent, the DGHS said.

Of the 31 deceased, 19 were men and 12 women with the Covid death rate for men at 76.96 per cent and for women at 23.04 per cent, it said. 

All the covid deaths happened in hospital in the last 24 hours, the DGHS pointed out.

The DGHS reported the latest coronavirus cases after testing 13,227 samples at 109 authorised labs across the country.
