A court in Dhaka on Tuesday sent Khandaker Enamul Basir, a suspended director of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), to jail in a case filed over Tk 4.0 million bribery scandal.

Dhaka Senior Special Judge KM Emrul Kayes passed the order after rejecting his bail petition, reports UNB.

Advocate Kabir Hossain, a counsel of Enamul, filed the bail petition. Meanwhile, ACC Director Sheikh Mohammad Fanafillah, also the case's investigation officer, requested the court to keep the accused incarcerated until the end of the investigation.

On Monday, ACC arrested Enamul from his Darus Salam residence in the city for taking bribe from police's Deputy Inspector General Mizanur Rahman.

Fanafillah filed the case with Dhaka-1 coordinated district office under the ACC on last Tuesday.

A private TV channel reported recently that Mizan gave Tk 4.0 million to Enamul to get clean chit in a corruption case.

Enamul was suspended on June 10 for allegedly leaking information, a breach of his job discipline.

Besides, Mizan was shown arrested in the case on July 21.
