A Dhaka court has dismissed a case filed against former justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik for defaming former Chief Justice SK Sinha.
The allegation was brought against him for defaming SK Sinha through contemptuous comments during a television talk-show on March 15.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Justice AKM Main Uddin Siddique dismissed the case on Monday due to absence of necessary steps by the plaintiff.
Earlier on March 29, ex-president of Dhaka Metropolitan Bar Association lawyer Arfanuddin Khan filed the case against Justice Manik for his comment in a TV talk-show that 'SK Sinha was member of the infamous Shanti Committee in 1971'.
According to UNB, such comment defamed the apex court of the country, the case statement said.
