Court accepts Sinha murder charge sheet

A court in Cox’s Bazar on Monday accepted the charge sheet against 15 people, including former OC of Teknaf police station Pradip Kumar Das, over the murder case of retired army officer Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan.

Judge Tamanna Farah of the Cox’s Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Court accepted the charge sheet and issued an arrest warrant for former Teknaf police station assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sagar Dev.

The court has also acquitted Shipra Debnath and Sifat from the charges, Public Prosecutor (PP) of Cox’s Bazar District and Sessions Judge’s Court Advocate Faridul Alam said, reports BSS.

On December 13, the investigating officer of the two cases, RAB Assistant Superintendent of Police Biman Chandra Karmakar submitted the report to the Teknaf and Ramu courts.

The charge sheet stated that the investigation of the case did not find the involvement of Shipra and Sipat with drugs.

Major (retired) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was allegedly shot dead by police at the Shamlapur check post in Teknaf on the night of July 31.

On August 5, Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case against nine people with Cox’s Bazar court.

So far 14 people have been arrested in the case.

The arrestees are- OC Pradeep Kumar Das, eight policemen including Inspector Liaquat Ali and three members of APBN and three locals.

Another accused ASI Sagar Dev remains absconding.
