MAGURA, Sept 12: About 200 women in Nanduali under Magura Sadar have improved their livelihood by preparing cattle manure as a fuel.
One Shabana Khatun of the village said cattle manure and jute stick are the two necessary elements for making the fuel. She said she has been making it over the past 10 years.
A bundle of cow dung fuel (100 pieces) is being sold at Tk 150 in the local market. "Every day we sell about two bundles of the fuel. Tk 300 is my daily income. I bought two cattle last year and sell those at Tk 0.11 million this Eid. Now I decide to buy four cows."
Rehala Pervin, another villager, said she earns her living by making cow dung fuel. "Cattle manure fuel is now in high demand due to recent hike in prices of LP gas", she added.
