Two ‘thieves’ die in lynch-mob attack

Two suspected thieves were killed in a lynch-mob attack in Gourisankarhat in Raujan upazila headquarters in Chattogram early Friday.

The deceased were identified as Mokter Hossain and Saiful Islam, residents of Yusuf Member bari of Thanpara area in Pahartali union, reports UNB.

Officer-in-charge of Raujan Police Station Md Kefaetulla said, local people caught Mokter and Saiful red-handed while they were trying to steal valuables from a house of Siraj Colony in the area at dawn and gave them a good beating, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

Pahartali Union Parishad Chairman Rokonuddin said Mokter and Saiful broke open the door of the house at Siraj Colony and took the inmates hostage at gun point.

Hearing the hue and cry from the house neighbors rushed to the house and caught the thieves

Later, police recovered the bodies from the spot, Rokonuddin added.
