Two students die in separate road crashes in Sirajganj, Narsingdi

Two students were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Sirajganj and Narsingdi districts on Thursday.

In Sirajganj, Hridoy, 17, a student of Dhukuria Technical College and son of Haidar Ali of Bhadraghat village in Kamarkhand upazila, was killed and two others were injured after a covered van hit them in the morning.

The accident took place at around 7:30 am when the chemical-laden covered van hit three pedestrians, leaving Hridoy dead on the spot and two others wounded.

The injured were taken to Sirajganj Hospital, said Habibul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kamarkhand Police Station.

Soon after the accident, the agitated people put up barricade in the road, disrupting traffic movement for around two hours, according to the UNB.

They also set the covered van on fire.

On information, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control, said the OC.

In Narsingdi, Rabbi Mia, a class VIII student of Hossainpur Pilot High School and son of Farid Mia, was killed when a Dhaka-bound covered van hit his bi-cycle while he was going to school at Boroicha in Belabo upazila at around 10:00 am.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Shibpur Itakhola Highway police.
