Two Ctg gas pipeline victims die

Two among the five people injured in a Hathazari gas cylinder explosion in Chattogram have died.

A three-year-old child, Tanim, and Razia Sultana, 11, succumbed to their burn injuries on Thursday morning, said Dr Narayan Dhar, assistant registrar at the burn unit in Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Tanim's mother Sonia Akhter, 25, her one-year-old daughter Mim and their neighbour Ruby Akhter, 15, are receiving treatment in hospital. At least 30 per cent of their bodies have been burnt.

A gas cylinder exploded in a three-storey building on Khoshal Shah Road in Aman Bazar of Hathazari at around 6:00 pm on Wednesday.

The cylinder explosion in the kitchen at the house of Anwar Hossain set the building ablaze, said Jahangir Mollah, a sub-inspector of Hathazari Police Station, bdnews24 reported.

Police then rescued the five ill-fated with burn injuries and admitted them to hospital.
