Three to die for housewife murder in Madaripur

A court in Madaripur on Tuesday sentenced three people to death for killing a housewife in Rocketbiri area of the district town in 2013.

District and Sessions Judge Sharif Uddin Ahmed announced the verdict today noon.

The convicts are Babu Sarder, Ujjal Khan and Naim Choukider.

According to the prosecution, on July 28, 2013 Babu took his wife Shahjadi from her father’s house at Rocketbiri area. Days later, police recovered the body of Shahjadi from Arial Khan River in Panchkhola area on August 9.

Following the disaster, victim’s mother Nasima Begum filed a case with Sadar Model Police Station against five suspects including Shahjadi’s husband Babu Sardar, father-in-law Khalek Sardar and mother-in-law Meherjan.

Police after investigation submitted charge-sheet before the court against them.

Later, the judge, after cross-examining witnesses and evidences announced the judgment, BSS reported.

The judge also acquitted two accused of the case as the killing charge pressed against them was not proved.
