At least three people died and eight others were injured when a bus carrying tourists fell into a ditch at Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Monday.

Md Mujahidul Islam, officer in charge (OC) at the Tulatuli Highway Police Station in Ramu, said the accident took place at Ramu’s old bypass point on Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway around 7:45am, reports a news agency.

The losing of the bus control by its driver is the cause behind the accident, he said, adding, "The bus belongs to Asma Paribahan, which does not ply along this route.”

After crashing into a divider, the bus fell into the ditch beside the road and left three people dead on the spot, according to the locals.

The injured people were rushed to various local hospitals in Cox’s Bazar later.
