Sixth grader girl gang raped in Bhola

A grade six student was gang raped by a neighbour and his associate at Char Sifali village in the Sadar upazila of Bhola district on Sunday night, reports UNB.

The victim is currently being treated at Bhola Sadar Hospital in critical condition. Bhola police chief Sardar Md Kaiser said an associate of the rapists had been arrested.

Family members said the girl was going to meet their neighbour Mahfuz’s wife to get Mehndi designs before Eid-ul-Azha.

On her way, Alamin, a tenant of Mahfuz, called her to his room in the pretext of giving her Mehndi.

Alamin and his associate Manjur Alam gagged the girl, tied her hands and legs before raping her.

Neighours and family members rescued the victim hearing her screams. She was first taken to Bhola Police Station and then admitted to the Sadar Hospital, said Char Samaiya Union Chairman Mohiuddin.

“Yes, she has been raped,” Dr Mominul Islam, the hospital’s medical officer, told reporters. “There’s excessive bleeding.”

Debi Mallick, a nurse at the hospital, said the victim needs urgent blood transfusion and five to six stitches.
