Bus crashes into autorickshaw, killing seven

At least seven people were killed and five others injured after a bus crashed into an autorickshaw in the southern district of Barguna on Thursday.

The incident took place in the Manikjhuri neighbourhood on the Amtali-Kuakata road around 11:00am, said Alauddin Milon, chief of the local police station.

Four of the dead were identified as Salma Akhter, 35, Sanu Hawlader, 40, Chan Mia, 55, and Jasim Mridha, 40.

Salma was an assistant teacher of Charikata Government Primary School, while Sanu Hawlader, Chan Mia and Jasim Mridha came from Taltoli Upazila’s Bogi village, according to a bdnews24 report.

A three-month-old baby was among the dead while two other unidentified people were aged between 40 and 45.

The injured, including the baby’s mother Fahima Akter, were taken to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
