A female student of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her house at Daspukur in Rajshahi city on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Fahima Akhter Chandni, 24, an MBBS final-year student and wife of Salehin Rony.

Quoting relatives of the deceased, sub-inspector Rafiq of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital police camp, said Chandni along with her husband lived at a rented house in Daspukur area as both of them were medical college students.

Having no response from Chandni's mobile phone till 11 pm, Salehin informed her friends about the matter.

Her friends then went to her house and found the door locked from inside. As Chandni did not respond after repeated knocks, they broke into the house and found Chandni hanging from the ceiling fan, UNB reported.

She was then taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead around 12 am.

It was not clear what prompted her to commit 'suicide'.
