RMP forms QRT for emergency situation

The Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has launched the Quick Response Team (QRT) to manage any emergency situation like unruly and subversive activities, terrorism, extremism and drug-trafficking in the city.

The 12-member team was formed in line with its Crises Response Team (CRT) constituted couple of months ago.

The team activity was launched formally at the RMP headquarters in Rajshahi on Thursday afternoon.

The team comprised two sub-inspectors, one sergeant, three assistant sub-inspectors and six constables. They were given training on how to conduct operations to arrest terrorists alongside combating extremism in emergencies.

Deputy Commissioner Abu Ahmad Al Mamun will supervise the team while Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdur Rashid and Assistant Commissioner Fazlul Karim will remain as in-charge and assistant in-charge respectively, reports BSS.

RMP Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akhter, Additional Commissioner Sujayet Islam and others concerned were present at the launching meeting along with the QRT members.

Speaking on the occasion, Hafiz Akhter says the team will work for reaching police services to the peoples doorsteps coupled with infusing dynamism into the modern policing system. As a whole, the team commits to bring any untoward incident under control quickly.
