Police recover hanging body of college girl in Cumilla

Police recovered the hanging body of a female student of Comilla Victoria College from her residence in Daulatpur area in Cumilla district town on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sharmin Sultana, 28, daughter of Moniruzzaman of Saidpur Sadar upazila and a master's student of Accounting department of Comilla Victoria Government College.

Family members said after completing honours course from the college, Sharmin was married to Sakhawat Hossain, son of Mainul Islam of Brahmanpara of the district. Her father-in-law's family has been living in Dhaka while her husband resides in Chattogram.

However, Sharmin was continuing studies living in her father’s house in the town.

Earlier, on Monday evening, she locked in an altercation with her husband over the cell phone regarding her visit to a female friend's house.

Later, in the night, she committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan, family members said.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, reports UNB.

It is primarily assumed that she had committed suicide, said the OC.

Police also recovered a letter from her room which mentioned that none was responsible for her death, the OC added.
