Police recover body of youth from Surma river

Police have recovered the body of a young man from Surma River in Sylhet region.

The deceased was identified as Sumon Ahmed, 27, son of Abdul Malik from Pirpur village in sadar upazila.

Enamul Hossain, a member of Tuker Bazar Union Parishad, said Sumon locked into a quarrel with his elder brother Abdul Karim over a trifling matter in the afternoon.

At one stage of altercation, Sumon jumped into the Surma River and went missing on Tuesday after being chased by his brother, UNB reported.

A team of divers from local fire-fighting unit went to the spot and recovered the body, said Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad Police Station.
