Nursery business boosting solvency of farmers in Bogura

BOGURA, May 16: Nursery business is boosting solvency amid farmers in Bogura district from last few years.

Mitigating the local demand, they are sending the sapling to the different adjacent district of the region and making handsome amount of money round the year.

Sometimes, the wholesalers from the Sirajganj, Naogaon, and Joypurhat districts visit the local nursery in a view to purchase the sapling from the owners directly.

The nursery owner took a short term training season from authority concern and applied their knowledge in the business elsewhere the area. They have changed their socio-economic condition within very short time.

They grow different sort of sapling including, wood apple, mango, berry, jackfruit, litchi, grapes, green coconut and orange round they year but they sell them from the month of May to July setting up shop in the fair.

Meanwhile, they have been seen selling the sapling in mobile shop on van and three wheeler moving one place to another place from the very early in the morning to late at night.

The customers of the sapling are getting quality fresh sapling according to their demand from the mobile shops from with reasonable price.

According to Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) more than 3000 small, middle and big sizes fruit and wood tress nursery have been set up elsewhere twelve upazilas of the district with assistance of authority concern.

Deputy Director of DAE Protul Chadra Sarker said the sapling of Adamdighi, Dupchanchia and sadar upazilas are very demand full. The educated unemployed youths have been engaged with the profession to manage the expenditure of their family income, he added.
