A woman and her son have died from electrocution at their residence in Chuadanga’s Jibannagar Upazila. Two others were injured in the incident.
The victims were identified as Ashura Khatun, 60, and their son Omar Ali, 28.
The incident took place at the Upazila’s Mahanagar Uttarpara on Friday morning, said Mahamuddin Hedayet, physician at the Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex, citing accounts of locals.
Ashura’s husband Samir Ali and their daughter-in-law Rubina were also injured in the incident and are receiving treatment at the health complex, reports bdnews24.
"Rubina was electrocuted after touching an electric wire hanging outside the porch. Her husband and in-laws were also electrocuted during their efforts to save her.” said Mahamuddin.
Locals subsequently went to their aid and rushed them to the hospital where the doctor on duty declared Ashura and Omar dead, added the physician.
