Microbus gas cylinder blast kills three

Three people were killed and another four, including three policemen, injured in a microbus gas cylinder blast in Tangail.

A teenage girl who was just rescued from alleged abductors by the police hours earlier was among the dead.

The incident occurred around 4:00am on Tuesday at the intersection of Kumudini College Road, said Md Rezaur Rahman, additional superintendent of police of Tangail Sadar Circle.

The dead have been identified as Zannatul Ferdous Barna, 19, Faruk, 41, and Sirajul Islam, 55. Faruk was Barna’s cousin and Islam was her uncle. All three died on the spot, reports bdnews24.

They were residents of Narayanganj’s Bhati port area under ​​the Sonargaon Police Station.

The injured — Assistant Sub-Inspector Tanvir, 33, Assistant Sub-Inspector Habib, 30, Constable Azhar, 45, and microbus driver Aktar, 35, — were admitted to Tangail General Hospital.

A police team from the Sonargaon Police Station went to Rajshahi’s Bagmara to rescue a kidnapped teenage girl and relatives of the girl were also with them, said Rahman.

On their way back, he said, the microbus gas cylinder exploded setting the vehicle ablaze
