A farmer and a child were killed in separate incidents of lightning strike at Nazirpur village in Sadar upazila and Sangor village in Baniachong upazila of Habiganj on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Dengu Mia, 50, a resident of Nazirpur village and Salma Aktar, 8, daughter of Manfar Mia of Sangor village, reports UNB.
A thunderbolt hit Dengu Mia and his sons while they were harvesting paddy in a haor (water body) beside the village in the afternoon, leaving Dengu severely injured.
Doctors declared Dengu Mia dead when he was taken to a hospital.
Meanwhile, Salma was plucking mangoes while a thunderbolt struck her and doctors declared her dead when she was taken to a local hospital.
