Lighterage vessel sinks in Bay

A lighterage vessel carrying iron scraps sank at the outer anchorage of Chittagong port on Saturday.

Chattogram Port Authority secretary Omar Faruk said, the vessel 'Char Shamayl' was returning to the port after unloading goods from a mother vessel.

At around 12:15 pm, the vessel sank being hit by another watercraft, according to UNB report.

However, local people of the area managed to rescue all of the crew members in time.
