Jashore ‘gunfight’ leaves drug peddler dead

A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight between two groups of drug peddlers allegedly over establishing supremacy at Choto Achra under Sharsha upazila in Jashore on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Abu Bakka, 35, son of Nur Islam of Dighirpar village in the upazila.

However, deceased's wife Safia Khatun Safi claimed that her husband was a helper of a local truck driver.

Some people identifying themselves as police, picked Bakka up from RN Road in Jashore on October 17 and since then he remained missing, she alleged, reports BSS.

Masud Karim, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station, said locals spotted the body in the morning and informed police.

Police recovered the bullet-hit body and sent to Jashore General Hospital for autopsy, he said.

The OC claimed there are 12 cases against Bakka filed with Benapole and Sharsha Police Stations.
