Jashore 10th grader ‘commits suicide after failing to stand first’

A class X student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree after being failed to secure first position in the final examination at Ista village in Jashore’s Jhikargachha upazila on Thursday.

The victim was identified as Rimon Reza Emon, 15, a student of Matikumra High School and son of Hasanuzzaman of the village.

Mezbah Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Bakra Police Camp, said Emon was the first boy of his class and he maintained his first position from class I-IX.

Family sources said Emon got his final examination results in the afternoon and broke down in tears as he stood second in the examination, reports UNB.

Later, he went out of his house at around 2:30pm. After sometime, he was found hanging from a tree in a mango orchard, owned by Lutfur Rahman.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed with Jhikargachha Police Station.
