BOGURA, Nov 01: Hundreds of red spinach cultivators in the district are delighted this season over the good yield and fair market prices.

A good number of farmers said the Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) authority provided quality seeds and the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) ensured other necessary inputs among the peasants to make the farming programme a success.

DAE officials said grassroot farmers in Shariakandi, Dupchanchia, Kahaloo, Dhunot, Adamdighi, Sherpur, Sonatola, Shibganj, Nandigram, Shajahanpur, Gabtoly and Sadar upazilas grow the leafy vegetable on vast tract of land.

"We are eyeing a good production as most of the farmers applied modern technology in their cropland", they added.

Sujon of Dehor village under Kahaloo upazila said he has started harvesting the item recently.

The farmer said, "I have achieved a bumper production of the vegetable this season."

Deputy Director of DAE Pratul Chandra Sarker said farmers in the area grow red spinach every season to make a good profit.
