Freedom fighter dies in truck-microbus collision in Panchagarh

A freedom fighter was killed and four others injured when a truck rammed a microbus on Panchagarh-Debiganj highway at Boda Bypass in Boda upazila of Panchagarh on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Mirza Abul Kalam, former commander of Muktijoddha Sangshad district unit.

Rabiul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Panchagarh Police Station, said the accident took place when the Panchagarh-bound truck hit a Rangpur-bound microbus carrying five people, leaving one dead on the spot and injured four others.

The injured were taken to Boda Upazila Health Complex, he added.

Abul Kalam met the tragic incident while on his way to Indian Visa Center in Rangpur, UNB reported.

Angered over the incident, locals put up a barricade on Panchagarh-Dhaka highway disrupting traffic movement for several hours.
