Electrocution kills four in Cumilla

At least four people, including three members of a family, died from electrocution after a live power line of Palli Bidyut Samity fell on their autorickshaw in Cumilla’s Langalkot upazila on Friday, police said.

The incident that took place in Bagmara area at around 12:30 pm, said Ashraful Islam Ashraf, chief of the local police station.

The deceased were identified as Abu Taher, 60, Taher’s son Bayezid, 35, Taher’s daughter Fahima Akter, 18 and CNG auto-rickshaw driver Sarwar Hossain, son of Abdur Rahim of Shankarpur village in the upazila, UNB reported.  

Bayezid’s wife and son, who were also in the auto-rickshaw, sustained injuries and have been admitted to a local hospital.

They were electrocuted while the autorickshaw carrying them was heading for Langalkot, said OC Ashraf.
