Forest guard goes missing in Bagerhat river

A forest guard, who went missing after he fell into the Baleshwar River at Shapzela in Sharankhola Upazila on Tuesday, could not be traced still Wednesday, reports UNB.

Mahmudul Hasan, divisional forest officer of the Sundarbans East Zone, said Sohel Rana Talukdar, 37, son of MA Hamid of Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar district, slipped into the river from a trawler around 10 pm on Tuesday while performing duty.

As Sohel did not know how to swim, he went missing, Mahmudul said.

Divers from Bagerhat and Khulna launched a rescue operation but they could not rescue him till Wednesday afternoon.
