Flood disrupts academic activities at 21 schools in Moulvibazar, Dinajpur

Academic activities of 20 educational institutions in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar remain suspended due to prolonged floods and water stagnancy.

 

Some of the institutions located on the Hakaluki haor region still remained inundated, causing much for resuming the academic activities there.

 

Hakaluki Junior High School, Moktodir Girls High School, Nirode Bihari High School, Shahpur Dakhil Madrasas, Jaifarnagar Mohila Dakhil Madrasah and Jangirai Madrasah remained inundated as the upazila administration had started a flood shelter for the flood-hit locals, official sources informed.

 

The government primary schools at Taltola, Khagteka, Kalnigar, Noyabazar, Bashirpur, Harirampur, Bhobanipur, Uttar Bhobanipur, Krishnanagar, Dhamai, Dakshin Jangirai, Uttar Jangirai, Noyagram, Bhogtera, Belagaon, Purbo Belagaon, Shahpur, Nishchintapur, Bhuai, Digholbak and Maniksingha are still inundated.

 

Until floodwater recedes completely, it wouldn't be possible to resume the academic activities of the institutions, official sources informed.

 

Meanwhile, our correspondent adds: In Dinajpur, floodwater has been disrupting academic activities of Laxmipur Shantirbazar Government Primary School under Chirirbandar upazila over the list five months.

 

Teachers, students and guardians of the school are now worried as the Primary School Certificate (PSC) examination will be held after two months.

 

 

Headmaster Shariful Islam said academic progress is seriously hampered by the present flood.

 

UNO Golam Rabbani said, "We would take effective steps to mitigate the problem. He said cooperation from school management committee, teachers and guardian will be helpful to solve the problem."
