Fire guts five shops in Satkhira

At least five shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Budhhata bazar in Assasuni upazila of Satkhira district on Tuesday night.

The fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop named M/S Bismillah Hardware around 9:30pm and spread soon to the adjacent shops, said Biplab Kumar Nath, officer-in-charge of Assasuni Police Station.

On information, a firefighting unit from the nearest station rushed there and extinguished the blaze within 30 minutes of the incident, according to a news agency report.

Meanwhile, the affected shop owners claimed that valuables worth Tk 10 million were gutted in the fire.
