Fire breaks out, kills temple employee in Ctg

A temple employee died of suffocation as a fire broke out at Askar Dighier Par in Chattogram city on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Arun Chakrawarty, 60, accountant of Sree Sree Loknath Temple located in the area.

Kamal Uddin, an assistant director at Fire Service and Civil Defence, Chattogram, said the fire broke out at a tin-shed house in the area around 8:00 pm and it soon engulfed the adjacent temple, nine houses and some shops.

On information, three firefighting units went to the spot and extinguished the blaze, reports UNB.

The firefighters rescued Arun, who suffered suffocation during the fire at the temple and took him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 10:00 pm.

A three-member committee was formed to identify what caused the fire.
