Farmers produce 64,898 tonnes of fish in Khulna

A total of 64,898 metric tonnes of fish has been produced in the district in the 2020-2021 fiscal year, which is 8,665 metric tonnes more than the target of fisheries department.

District Fisheries Officer Joydeb Paul disclosed it today (Tuesday) during a PowerPoint presentation in a preparedness meeting ahead of National fisheries week campaign, scheduled to begin on August 28.

Marking the fisheries week, the department of district fisheries has been taken elaborate programmes.

The programmes include release of fries, video documentary exhibition on district fish resource, view exchange meeting with local journalists and seminar on government success and achievement in the fishery sector, reports BSS.

Besides, prizes will be distributed among fish farmers and organizations for their outstanding performances in fish production.

With additional deputy commissioner Md Yousup Ali in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by the deputy director of Department of Agricultural Extension Md Hafizur Rahman, Khulna Press Club President S M Zahid Hossain and ex-vice president of frozen Foods Export Association Sheikh Abdul Baki.
