Elephant tramps woman to death

An elderly woman was trampled to death while another injured by a wild elephant at Rajmura in Banskhali upazila of Chattogram on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Mariam Khatun, 60, wife of Siddique Ahmed of the area.

A wild elephant attacked a Mariam and Shafiqul Islam, son of Abdul Kuddus of Natun Para area, on Thursday morning, leaving them injured, said Sub-inspector Jahirul Islam Bhuiyan of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost, UNB reports.

The injured were taken to CMCH where the duty doctor declared the woman dead, he added.
