An elderly woman was crushed under the wheels of a bus on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Chapta area of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj district on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Moriam Begum, wife of Moksed Mollah, hailing from Kusumdia village of the same upazila.
Officer-in-charge at Kashiani Police Station, A K M Alinur Hossain, said that the bus hit Morium around 8:30 pm while she was crossing the highway, leaving her dead on the spot.
Protesting the accident, the locals blocked the highway for an hour.
Being informed, Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, reports UNB.
