Do Something Foundation distributes relief to 5,000 flood victims in six districts

Do Something Foundation - a humanitarian organisation - has so far distributed relief among 5,000 people affected by floods in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona, Kurigram, Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat.

Each relief package had 2kg rice, 1 kg puffed rice, 1 kg sugar, 500gm salt, four candles, four packets of saline, 1 lighter, and two litres of drinking water, according to a press release received on Sunday.

Paracetamol, metronidazole, antihistamines, chlorine tablets, carbolic acid (to protect against snakes) and sanitary pads were also distributed, along with foods for children.

Do Something Foundation President Dr Nazmul Islam said, “The goal of our organisation is to work hard to reach remote areas. Communication is difficult in those areas, so relief does not usually reach there. Usually, destitute people live in those areas and they need more help.”

He also said, “So far, relief activities have been carried out in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona, Kurigram, Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat. We have been regularly distributing dried and cooked food in the flood-hit areas since the beginning. In addition, our medical team has been providing first aid to the flood victims.”
