Customs intelligence officials seized 870 cartons of illegally imported cigarettes from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday morning.
Acting on a tipoff, a team of customs intelligence officials conducted a drive at the lost and found section of the airport and recovered the cigarettes, said Dr Mohammad Shahidul Ialam, Director General of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.
The cigarettes were brought to Dhaka by a flight of Saudi Arabian Airlines from Jeddah that landed at the airport on Saturday, says a UNB report.
