BR fines 565 commuters for travelling without tickets

Four teams of Bangladesh Railway (BR) have penalised 565 passengers of four intercity trains Tk 2,59,000 for travelling without tickets from different stations under Lalmonirhat Railway Division.

“As per directives of General Manager for Western Zone of BR Shahidul Haque Khondker, we conducted the special ticket checking drives from morning to night on Thursday,” Lalmonirhat Divisional Traffic Superintendent (DTS) of BR Shawkat Jamil Mohoshi said on Friday.

During the drives, the four teams of BR officials found 565 passengers of intercity trains ‘Lalmoni Express’, ‘Ekota Express’, ‘Rangpur Express’ and ‘Drutojan Express’ travelling without tickets on different routes and fined them Tk 2,59,000 on the spots.

Lalmonirhat Divisional DTS of BR Shawkat Jamil Mohoshi, its Additional DTS Md Sajjat Hossain, Traffic Inspectors Monwar Hossain and Md Shamsuzzaman lead the four special ticket checking teams during the drives, reports BSS.

“The special ticket checking drives will continue on different trains on various routes under Lalmonirhat Railway Division in future,” Shawkat Jamil Mohoshi added.
