Boat procession to save Bhairab river in Jashore

A boat procession was held in the Bhairab river on Friday to create awareness in saving the river from pollution and grabbing, reports UNB.

Make Clean and Safe Noapara Association organised the boat procession to create awareness among people living on the river banks in Abhaynagar upazila on Friday.

The journey had begun from Noapara point and roamed around three kilometres riverine areas.

Everyone needs to think how to save the biodiversity of the river and the riverine areas, speakers said on the occasion, adding that all the environmental organisations have to come forward to take necessary measures as well as to save the water body’s ecosystem.

Among others, Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi in Noapara President Sunil Kumar Das, General Secretary and Executive Director Prof Sukumar Ghosh, Diseases of the Chest Clinic Consultant Dr Atahar Hossain, Noapara Highway Police officer-in-charge Md Atarur Rahman, Project Implement Officer Md Rizibul Islam, BIWT Assistant Director Masud Parvez and Noapara Municipality Councilor Shirin Akhter spoke on the occasion.
