BGB seizes smuggled Indian tea in Benapole

BGB seizes Indian tea worth Tk 0.50m

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized some 2.5 tonnes of low-quality Indian smuggled tea from Amrakhali area of Benapole on Monday night.

Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, Commanding Officer of BGB-49 battalion, said acting on a tip-off, a BGB team conducted a drive in the area and recovered the smuggled tea worth Tk 0.50 million in an abandoned condition.

Later, the confiscated tea were deposited to Benapole customs warehouse.

A case has been filed with local police station.
