BGB man on polls duty dies following cardiac arrest

A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) official died after suffering a cardiac arrest while performing upazila election duty in Bagherpara Upazila of Jashore on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Nayeb Subedar Rafiqul Islam, 56, of BGB-49 battalion.

Lt Col Selim Reza, commanding officer BGB-49 battalion, said that a BGB team of the battalion went to the auditorium of upazila parishad in the afternoon for performing duty.

Team member Rafiqul complained of chest pain around 10pm, according to a UNB report.

He was taken to Bagherpara Health Complex where doctors pronounced him dead.
